A SOMBRE atmosphere gripped the grounds of the Shah Alam Hospital’s Forensic Department on Sunday as family members carried out the identification process of a married couple who died in the recent boat capsize off Tanjung Harapan, Port Klang.

According to Sinar Harian, the victims’ parents were granted entry to the forensics unit at 12.05 pm, accompanied by two other individuals believed to include the woman’s brother. The group remained composed as they entered to complete the formal identification.

However, emotions ran high during the process, with a woman, believed to be the mother of one of the deceased, breaking down in loud sobs after viewing the body.

Other family members gathered quietly in the hospital compound, refraining from speaking to the media. They confirmed that the post-mortem examinations concluded around 4 pm.

Earlier reports stated that the bodies of the couple, previously declared missing, were recovered Sunday morning following the incident in which their boat capsized off Tanjung Harapan last Friday.

The accident claimed the lives of three people, including a child, while the husband and wife had initially been listed as missing until their remains were found - June 8, 2025
