A MALE teacher was arrested by the police last night after he allegedly molested a student categorised as intellectually disabled (OKU) in Rembau on May 5.
Rembau Police Chief, Superintendent Hasani Hussain said the 36-year-old teacher was detained at the district police headquarters (IPD) compound at around 10pm to assist in the investigation.
According to him, the arrest followed a police report made by the 16-year-old victim at 5.15 pm yesterday.
"Based on the investigation, the incident is believed to have occurred at about 10.40am in a treatment room at the school after the victim experienced leg pain after finishing a cross-country activity.
"The suspect allegedly forced the victim to sit and massaged her legs, calves and thighs before touching the victim's sensitive areas. The victim, however, refused, but was threatened by the teacher," he said as reported by Sinar Harian.
Hasani said the victim then told a classmate about the incident before filing a complaint with the special education teacher on June 30.
Based on initial investigations, the suspect denied involvement and the case is being investigated under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
The victim was the second of five siblings who had been living in a children's shelter since last year after being sexually abused by a known individual. - July 6, 2025
