PANDAN MP Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli said at around 1:45 pm today as his son and wife were getting into their car to leave a shopping mall in Putrajaya, a man suddenly dragged his son and stabbed him with a syringe.

In a statement, he said a check showed that two men riding a motorcycle had been following his wife's car.

"In my opinion, they had planned the attack in advance. The attack involved two men dressed entirely in black and wearing helmets that covered their  faces.

"They had waited in advance and rushed to attack my son at the right moment. My son was immediately taken to UPM Hospital for treatment," he said.

He said the police were also at the scene immediately after the incident.

"My family and I have already given a statement to the police. Any further information regarding the incident, investigation and results of the medical examination should be released by the police and UPM Hospital," he said.

The former minister expressed his gratitude to the police and UPM Hospital for helping his family through this incident.

"Throughout my career as a public profile politician, this is the first time my family has been the target of attacks and threats like this.

"I believe this attack is a warning to me not to speak out on certain issues. Thank you to everyone who sent messages and asked how I was.

"God willing, while I will take follow-up steps to increase security, I will also not succumb to any threats and will continue to carry out my duties as usual," he said.

Police looking for two individuals

Meanwhile, Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said police are searching for two individuals accused of assaulting Rafizi's son at a shopping mall in Putrajaya today.

He said CCTV footage from the scene had been obtained and reviewed.

"Yes, I can confirm the incident. The victim was physically attacked by unknown individuals," he said.

He added that the political leader's son is in stable condition and receiving hospital treatment.  - August 13, 2025
