POLICE have recorded statements from 19 individuals in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was discovered hanging from a ceiling fan in the living room of her residence in USJ 2/1 last Thursday.

Subang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, said those interviewed include the victim’s family members, friends, and other witnesses who may assist with the investigation.

“So far, the police are continuing investigations to determine the exact motive of the incident and identify the suspect involved,” he said in a statement issued on Tuesday.

Earlier media reports indicated that police have not ruled out the possibility that the suspect is someone known to the victim, based on initial findings.

A post-mortem conducted by a forensic pathologist at Serdang Hospital confirmed the cause of death as haemorrhaging around the hyoid bone in the neck.

The pathologist also found injuries to the victim’s muscles and bones consistent with *manual strangulation*.

Following these findings, police have opened an investigation paper under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. - August 20, 2025
