A WOMAN faced a terrifying moment when the car she was driving with her son was hit by a tree along Jalan Paip, Kampung Budiman, Shah Alam, last night.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said in the incident, the nine-year-old boy suffered minor injuries while his 37-year-old mother was not injured.
He said they received a call regarding the incident at 10.43 pm and following this, a team of officers and personnel from the Kapar Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) rushed to the location.
“The operation commander reported that a tree had fallen and hit a moving Perodua Myvi.
“There were two victims, a mother and child, and the child suffered minor head injuries and was taken to a nearby clinic for treatment.
“The work of cutting and removing the tree branches was completed by firefighters at the location,” he said.
Earlier, the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department announced that there were several incidents of trees falling due to strong winds hitting areas including Meru, Klang and Bestari Jaya.
He said firefighters were deployed to carry out work to cut and remove the trees.
Earlier, the Malaysian Meteorological Department reported a thunderstorm warning in several states until 1 am this morning.
Among the states involved were Pahang (Jerantut), Selangor (Kuala Selangor, Klang, Kuala Langat and Sepang), Sarawak (Limbang) and Sabah Interior (Nabawan), Tawau and Sandakan (Tongod). – August 26, 2025
