KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia has recorded more Covid-19 recoveries at 1,441 cases than new infections at 1,247 on Christmas day, but the country also saw three deaths and detected four new clusters in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement that the bulk of today’s cases again come from Selangor, with 461 infections.

Sabah recorded the second-highest number of infections for the day at 225, followed by Johor (205), Kuala Lumpur (140), Negri Sembilan (89), Perak (55), Penang (25), Melaka (14), Pahang (11), Labuan (8), Putrajaya (7) and Kelantan (4).

This takes the cumulative number of Covid-19 cases in Malaysia to 101,565.

Meanwhile, the four new clusters identified are Cassia Diamond (Klang, Kuala Langat, Hulu Langat, Kuala Selangor and Gombak), Pompod (Kota Belud and Kudat) and two construction sites – Kiara (Kepong) and Perkasa (Cheras).

A total of 204 clusters are still active, with 50 of them recording new cases.

The most infections from clusters came from Tembok Gajah (113), Jalan Harapan Prison (86) and Puncak Galaksi (51).

“Six clusters have ended today, which are Tanamera, Jalan Kalabakan, Seri Terapi, Seri Pasir, Astaka and Tembaga. As of now, a total of 268 clusters have ended,” said Dr Noor Hisham. – The Vibes, December 25, 2020
