A 36-YEAR-OLD man, reportedly dressed in women’s clothing, has been remanded for four days by the Magistrates’ Court here following allegations that he assaulted another man with a meat cleaver.
The remand order was issued by Magistrate Sharda Shienha Mohd Suleiman on Tuesday and will remain in effect until Friday.
According to a source, the suspect launched an unprovoked attack on a local man in his 40s from behind in broad daylight on Sunday.
“The incident took place along Jalan Melaka Raya in Banda Hilir at around 2pm. The suspect, armed with a meat cleaver, approached the victim from behind and struck him, causing injury,” the source said.
Following the attack, the suspect reportedly fled to the Banda Hilir Police Station and informed officers of what had transpired. Police then contacted emergency services to assist the injured victim.
The suspect, who is originally from Kuala Lumpur, was subsequently arrested at the scene around midday on Monday.
“The victim is currently in stable condition but remains under treatment at Melaka Hospital,” the source added.
Initial investigations revealed the suspect has a prior criminal record, including offences related to drugs. Police are investigating the case under Section 324 of the Penal Code for voluntarily causing hurt with a dangerous weapon. - August 26, 2025
