INVESTIGATIONS revealed that the two Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (TAR UMT) students who died after they were believed to have fallen from a condominium in Taman Melati on August 20 did not know each other.

Kuala Lumpur Police Chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said investigations found that the incident occurred by chance when both victims, a 22-year-old woman and a 21-year-old man, died on the same day at the same location.

"Our investigations found that the two of them were not related and did not know each other.

"Investigations are still being conducted under Section 507B of the Penal Code," he said.

Fadil said police is currently gathering evidence to see if there were any elements of bullying that led to the incidents.

He said that several more statements will be recorded to complete the investigations and so far the police are satisfied with the progress.

The first incident was reported to have occurred at 6.48 am when a female student fell from the 22nd floor before being found on the eighth floor of the condominium. The victim was confirmed dead at the scene.

Later, at 9.35 pm the same day, a male student was reported to have fallen from the 35th floor and was found at the back of the building and confirmed dead at the scene.

Initial investigations found that the cause of death of both victims was due to various serious injuries and the police confirmed there were no criminal elements. - August 29, 2025
