THREE couples, including a female Form Four student and her partner in his 20s, were arrested for khalwat in an operation by the Johor State Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) at several hotels in Kulai, early this morning.

According to JAINJ, the female student who is still studying outside the district was arrested with her partner in an operation from about 10pm to 3am this morning.

"The man in his 20s is still single and works in a factory, while the woman is 16 years old and still studying in Form Four in another district.

"The man was shocked when he opened the door and saw five JAINJ enforcers.

"When the enforcement officers entered the room, there was his partner standing there and looking like a student," said JAINJ, explaining that the student's parents were called for the bail process.

According to JAINJ, apart from this couple, they also arrested two other couples involving an Indonesian man and woman.

"The man in his 30s was arrested in a hotel room with a fellow countrywoman who works as a security guard and canteen worker.

"The other couple involved a Myanmar national in his 30s who works as a security guard and the woman works at a factory in Senai," added JAINJ. - September 30, 2025
