A 46-YEAR-OLD local woman, who is understood to be the mother-in-law of a national footballer, has been arrested in connection with a passport forgery syndicate following a police raid on an apartment in Gombak.
She was detained alongside three Pakistani nationals during the operation, which was carried out by the Commercial Crime Investigation Division of the Gombak District Police Headquarters.
The arrests were made following sustained intelligence work into the syndicate, believed to have been operating in the area for several months.
According to a police source, the operation began with the arrest of a Pakistani man suspected to be closely linked to the syndicate.
“Based on information obtained from the initial arrest, officers raided a flat in Gombak, where they detained the local female suspect along with three other foreign men,” the source said.
A subsequent search of the premises uncovered numerous counterfeit immigration stamps from several countries, including Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malaysia. These items are believed to have been used to forge travel documents.
All five suspects were taken to Rawang Police Station for further questioning. The seized materials have been confiscated to assist investigations, which are being conducted under document forgery and immigration-related offences.
Gombak District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir confirmed the arrests when contacted.
“Police confirm that four Pakistani men and one local woman were detained on 1 October. The case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code, and all suspects are remanded until 8 October,” he said. - October 5, 2025
