Anwar: Special homecoming gathering to honour Gaza mission heroes
"Alhamdulillah, all of them are well, and their spirits remain strong," said Anwar - October 5, 2025

A SPECIAL gathering will be held in Kuala Lumpur to celebrate the return of the 23 Malaysian volunteers who were recently released from detention by the Israeli regime after joining the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) humanitarian mission to Gaza.

In a Facebook post, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the event would honour the volunteers' courage and sacrifices while reinforcing Malaysia's solidarity with the people of Gaza.

"We will organise a special event to honour these heroes and heroines of humanity, while continuing to strengthen Malaysia's solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Gaza," he said.

Anwar, who had spoken to the Malaysian activists in Istanbul following their release, said they were all in good health and high spirits despite their ordeal.

"Alhamdulillah, all of them are well, and their spirits remain strong," he said.

He also expressed gratitude for their bravery and perseverance in defending humanitarian values and standing up for the oppressed people of Gaza.

"They are a symbol of the Malaysian people's courage and commitment to upholding humanitarian values that transcend borders," he added.

The Malaysian volunteers were among over 500 activists from 45 countries who took part in the GSF mission, which aimed to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza and challenge the Israeli blockade. – October 5, 2025
