UMNO and Barisan Nasional (BN) Sabah are entering the 17th state election fully primed, with chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin declaring the coalition’s machinery at “the highest level of readiness” just hours after the Sabah assembly’s dissolution on Monday.
“We are not waiting for tomorrow. Our preparations have long been underway. Every divisional, wing, and district operations leader must now ensure our machinery is mobilised 100% to secure victory,” he said in a statement in Kota Kinabalu.
Bung said Umno-BN’s experience in governing and developing Sabah remained its biggest asset, allowing its candidates and teams to perform in an organised and effective manner.
He warned that the campaign would be framed against the failures of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS).
He said the five-year term of the alliance was mired with mismanagement of the economy, discouraging investment, and leaving many parts of the state underdeveloped.
“The people have witnessed first-hand the failures of GRS leadership in managing the economy, investment, and state development.
“Many areas remain underdeveloped, job opportunities are scarce, and the state’s development policies inconsistent,” he said.
The Kinabatangan MP insisted UMNO-BN would not rely on rhetoric but offer “concrete plans and actions” aligned with the people’s aspirations, stressing that Sabahans now deserved more than “empty promises.”
“We are ready to bring meaningful change to the people of Sabah. The people deserve a better quality of life, with opportunities, progress, and political stability,” he said.
Framing PRN17 as a turning point, Bung urged voters to correct Sabah’s course, banking on UMNO-BN’s legacy and track record as the foundation for renewal.
“With the will of Allah and the support of the people, UMNO-BN stands ready to lead Sabah once again with renewed spirit, guided by experience and confidence,” he added. - October 6, 2025
