THE Tabung Haji Board (TH) welcomes the government's decision to publicly disclose the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report, reaffirming its commitment to fully implement the recommendations put forward to strengthen the governance and integrity of the organisation.

In a statement today, TH said it had taken note of the RCI recommendations that touched on issues before 2018 and stressed that the institution has now undergone various reforms.

“TH has taken note of the RCI recommendations on what happened before 2018. Since then, TH has moved forward,” read the statement.

TH said that to date, 75 per cent of the RCI recommendations have been implemented, while the remaining recommendations are in the process, to continue strengthening the governance and well-being of the institution.

According to TH, various achievements have also been recorded as a result of the transformation process, including the recovery of financial indicators, the building of reserves and the increase in the profit distribution rate to 3.5 per cent, which is the highest rate in eight years.

“TH has implemented 75 per cent of the RCI recommendations to improve the governance and well-being of the institution. The rest is currently in the process of being implemented,” said TH.

The institution also announced its success in maintaining the hajj cost at RM33,300 per person for three consecutive years despite the increasing cost of hajj operations globally.

TH stressed that it will continue to be committed to protecting the interests of more than nine million depositors, strengthening public confidence and ensuring that the institution continues to operate with integrity and responsibility.

“TH remains committed to protecting the interests of depositors, strengthening public confidence and ensuring that the institution continues to operate with integrity and responsibility,” the statement read.

Earlier today, the Cabinet agreed to declassify and publicly disclose the RCI report on the management and operations of the Tabung Haji Board for the period 2014 to 2020.

MADANI Government Spokesperson, Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil, said the report also contained recommendations for enforcement agencies to conduct further investigations into any possible violations of the law.

The government also announced that the report would be presented and debated in a special session of Parliament. – July 29, 2026
