ELEVEN political parties outside the government bloc in a roundtable meeting yesterday evening agreed to name the coalition Ikatan Prihatin Rakyat (IPR) with the theme - 'Save Malaysia'.
Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) President, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said among the matters discussed were the 2026 Budget, the Urban Redevelopment Bill (URA), the development of genocide in Gaza, Palestine, the safety of children in schools and the Government Procurement Act.
Regarding the 2026 Budget, Muhyiddin said, the coalition found that it did not reduce the burden on the people in a very challenging economic situation, in fact the national debt reached RM1.6 trillion and could not cover expenses for new development and revenue and income did not increase.
"We also firmly believe that the government must be responsible to cancel the invitation to the President of the United States (US), Donald Trump, to the 47th ASEAN Summit given that he is a major ally in committing genocide and a strong supporter of crimes against humanity committed by Israel against the Palestinians.
"The economic relationship between Malaysia and the US cannot be used as an excuse to receive Trump as a state guest on the ASEAN stage where the bloc of countries always support the principle of the rule of law, preserving security and human life.
"In addition, IPR supports the efforts of Malaysians who participated in the Global Sumud Flotilla (GSF) voyage to bring a message of peace and bring food and medical supplies to the people of Gaza.
"Malaysia must take a firm stance in restoring the sovereignty of the country and the Palestinian people," he said in a statement.
The meeting decided to organise the IPR National Congress in early 2026 to emphasise the coalition's stance in addressing the people's issues.
The IPR Secretariat will be established to look at the concept and all aspects of community life to be discussed in the congress.
The IPR roundtable is the second meeting following the first meeting on 18 August.
Muhyiddin also announced that the roundtable discussed URA and took the position that the bill must be rejected.
He explained that the bill does not guarantee the rights of property owners or provide fair protection because any redevelopment must maintain ownership to the original owners, demographics, history and heritage as well as the harmony of the population in this country.
"The IPR discussion also focused on the impact on the Procurement Act, which should be postponed or placed under a moratorium until its impact is thoroughly studied to prevent abuse of power by the government.
"This alliance also views seriously the issue of child safety in schools involving cases of bullying, violence, rape and murder. These crimes must be stopped immediately and the Ministry of Education Malaysia (KPM) is responsible for overhauling the education system.
"In addition, IPR urges the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to take more effective measures to control the spread of criminal, violent and bullying material on social media," he said.
Among the leaders involved in the IPR coalition are PAS Deputy President, Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man; Gerakan President, Datuk Dr Dominic Lau Hoe Chai; Malaysian Indian People's Party (MIPP) President, P Punithan and Parti Berjasa (Berjasa) President, Zamani Ibrahim.
Also participating were Pejuang President, Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir; Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) President, Datuk Dr Ibrahim Ali; Acting President Muda, Amira Aisya Abdul Aziz; Parti Kemajuan Malaysia (MAP) President, P Waytha Moorthy; Acting President of the National Indian Muslim Alliance (IMAN) Party, Datuk Mohd Ismail Mohd Ibrahim and Interim Chairman of Urimai, Professor Dr P Ramasamy. - October 15, 2025
