THE Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) once again reminded the public not to enter Kuala Lumpur during the 47th ASEAN Summit from 26 to 28 October unless it is important.
Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail said that road closures and diversions will be implemented periodically to facilitate the travel of foreign delegations to the summit.
According to him, road closures will be implemented in stages starting on 17 October and will be increased throughout the summit, especially during official functions.
"Therefore, the public is advised to avoid the city centre unless it is important. Plan your journey in advance and use public transport.
"The public's cooperation is greatly appreciated to ensure smooth movement throughout the conference," he said at the 47th ASEAN Summit Rehearsal press conference at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, today.
Mohd Khalid said that the affected routes were mainly around the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), especially Jalan Ampang, Jalan Sultan Ismail, Jalan Tun Razak, Jalan P Ramlee, Jalan Pinang and Persiaran KLCC.
Several highways were also involved, namely the Maju Expressway (MEX), North-South Central Link Expressway (ELITE), New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) and Guthrie Corridor Expressway (GUTHRIE).
Mohd Khalid also stressed that strict and uncompromising action would be taken if anyone tried to cause disruption during the conference.
"PDRM will take steps in accordance with the provisions of the law against any party who tries to disrupt the peace.
"In addition, the public is advised to always be aware of their personal safety and the surroundings and immediately report any suspicious activity to the police," he said. – October 23, 2025
