SABAH DAP is still undecided on using its ‘rocket’ logo for the upcoming state election and neither has it formalized an exclusive alliance with Umno.
Its deputy chairman Datuk Chan Foong Hin said Sabah DAP has not finalised anything yet despite having several discussions within the party on the usage of its logo.
He said as far as the logo is concerned, there were many factors for the party to consider.
"At this moment, nothing has been finalised…I did not say which logo we would use yet,” he said.
“Sometimes, logos are not that important….I think the spirit of togetherness is vital," said Chan, who is also deputy plantation and commodities minister and also Kota Kinabalu MP.
He added that Sabah DAP took cognisance of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)’s firm stand in handling the issue of two of its component parties choosing to contest using their own logos.
Last month, Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) and Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) were effectively removed from GRS.
Sabah Pakatan Harapan component party United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (Upko) also expressed its intention to contest using its own logo.
On another note, Chan denied rumours that Sabah DAP had formalised an exclusive alliance with Sabah Umno.
"There's no such thing as two parties from the two coalitions, Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional, forming an exclusive alliance.
"PH and BN are the backbone of the government. But at the same time, we want to respect the uniqueness of Sabah.
"So for PH, we really appreciate the cooperation with GRS.
"However, like the prime minister said, this is a love triangle. We hope there will be an agreement where all parties can work together peacefully," he added.
Chan also said it was important for the three coalitions to avoid clashes and multi-cornered fights. - October 27, 2025
