THE parents of a boy whose throat was slit with a knife were remanded for two days by the Batu Pahat Magistrate's Court today to assist in investigations into the incident.

The remand order against the two 41-year-old suspects was issued by Magistrate Nurasidah A Rahman from today until tomorrow, to enable the police to conduct further investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code and Section 31 (1) (a) of the Children's Act 2001.

Earlier, the couple involved arrived at the court premises at 8.30am before being brought into court for remand proceedings.

The two suspects were arrested at 4pm yesterday at the Batu Pahat District Police Headquarters (IPD) premises to assist the police in completing their investigations.

Meanwhile, the suspect's lawyer, Muhamad Izwan Ishak, said that during the proceedings, the investigating officer told them that the remand was needed for the police to record their statements.

According to him, it was important because there was information from the child (victim) who claimed that the two suspects were involved, which required further investigation.

"In addition, there are discrepancies in information between the two suspects which require a more detailed investigation from the police."

"A remand order was also made to await a report from the Community Health Department (JKM) to take the two suspect's children to be placed under temporary custody.

"Next is to detect the involvement of the suspect or the existence of other criminal elements in this case," he said.

In the incident at 5.30am last Monday, the six-year-old victim was found in serious condition after his right neck was slashed using a sharp weapon.

Batu Pahat District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani reportedly said that an investigation was carried out as soon as he received a report from the victim's 41-year-old mother on the morning of the incident.

According to him, the woman woke up from her sleep and found that her son had suffered a serious neck injury and was taken to the hospital for further treatment. - October 29, 2025
