BARISAN Nasional (BN) Sabah has confirmed it will field a candidate for the Dewan Undangan Negeri (DUN) Pintasan in the upcoming 17th Sabah General Election.

The announcement was made by BN Sabah chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin, who said all candidates proposed by the party are qualified but stressed the importance of selecting the most electable.

"All candidates that have been proposed possess their own qualifications, but we will choose the best candidate, one capable of winning and carrying the voice of the people," he said during a village feast at Kampung Nanamun on Tuesday.

Bung Moktar also urged all BN campaign machinery to remain united and avoid divisions ahead of the election.

Earlier, he had revealed that 81 per cent of BN Sabah’s candidates would be new faces, with half of them being young contenders.

DUN Pintasan has drawn renewed attention after Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia, President of the Sabah United National Organisation (USNO), expressed his intention to contest the seat.

Pandikar previously contested in the constituency during the last state election but was defeated by Datuk Fairuz Renddan of Perikatan Nasional, who secured 2,744 votes. - October 29, 2025
