PARTI Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia’s (BERSATU) internal tensions have deepened as the party’s Disciplinary Board summoned another senior leader, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Abdullah, believed to be over his involvement in calls for President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin to relinquish his post.
The former Perikatan Nasional (PN) Pahang chairman and Indera Mahkota MP confirmed the development on Monday night, saying he had received official notice from the board earlier in the day.
“At about 1.52pm, I received a notice to attend a meeting with members of the Disciplinary Board at the BERSATU headquarters in Petaling Jaya at 4.30pm this Thursday,” he said.
“However, I requested for the session to be brought forward as I have an engagement outside Kuala Lumpur that evening. The board agreed, so the new time is 2pm,” Saifuddin added.
The summons comes after three other division chiefs — Abdul Razak Khamis (Pendang), Datuk Mohd Suhaimi Ghazali (Sepang) and Mohd Shukor Mustafa (Puchong) — were also called up by the party’s disciplinary panel.
They are believed to be among 120 BERSATU division leaders who had signed a statutory declaration urging Muhyiddin to step down and hand over the leadership to his deputy, Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.
Last month, BERSATU expelled Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and suspended Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal for one parliamentary term.
However, their positions as Members of Parliament remain unaffected, as party membership status is not governed by Malaysia’s Federal Constitution under the anti-party hopping provisions.
The disciplinary board also confirmed that membership termination actions had been taken against four more division leaders — Mohd Azrudin Md Idris (Hang Tuah Jaya), Mohd Faizal Asmar (Pengerang), Mohd Fadhli Ismail (Ipoh Timur) and Mohd Isa Mohd Saidi (Ampang). - November 3, 2025
