THE family of Pastor Raymond Koh, who disappeared on Feb 13, 2017, has requested that Deputy Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay be considered to lead the police investigation into the case.

Susanna Liew, Koh's wife, said that to finally reach a conclusion, the investigation needed to be led by someone of impeccable integrity and honesty, who would uphold the truth and justice in accordance with the law.

"I, together with my family, humbly request that the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Tan Sri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay, be considered to head any police investigation into this matter.

"He is known amongst members of the public as a person of integrity and honesty, and we have confidence that he won't be intimidated, daunted or frightened to do what is just and right, despite high-ranking police officers being involved in the abductions.

"The appointment of Ayob, who is also known for his extensive investigative experience and strong public stance on discipline and integrity among the police officers under him, would send a clear signal that the investigation is being taken seriously and will proceed independently, thoroughly and with credibility," she said in a statement reported by The New Straits Times.

Liew noted that three previous police investigations into the disappearances of Koh and social activist Amri Che Mat came to different conclusions as established in the National Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) inquiry, the Special Task Force report and the High Court's decision, she said.

She also requested a meeting with Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, along with her family and lawyers, to speak about the case in the coming week, citing that then-home minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had met the family previously.

On Nov 5, the High Court ruled that police and the government were liable for negligence, misfeasance of public office, breach of statutory duty and infringement of fundamental liberties in the case of the disappearance of Koh and Amri.

Meanwhile, Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has confirmed that the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has established a special investigation team, led by an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), to investigate the disappearances of Amri Che Mat and Pastor Koh. - November 13, 2025
