At the same time, she also said it would be better if Mohd Na'im and his ministry focused on other bigger problems instead of investigating Dolla's music video.

MINISTER in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs), Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar has no right to 'threaten' to impose syariah action against Dolla group member, Sabronzo (Wan Sabrina Wan Rusli) for allegedly for appearing 'too sexy' in a mucis video.

Lawyer, Latheefa Koya, said, a minister has no power to investigate or prosecute any individual.

On the other hand, the power of prosecution, whether a civil or syariah, can only be decided by the prosecution after a fair and independent investigation by the relevant authorities.

In fact, she added, by launching an open `attack' on Sabronzo, Mohd Na'im has publicly humiliated her even though she has not been found guilty of any offence.

"This action also affects her fundamental right to a fair investigation and trial," she said via the X social media site yesterday.

Earlier, Mohd Na'im was reported to have said that his party was looking into imposing syariah criminal action on Muslim celebrities who dress conspicuously.

The statement follows the controversy surrounding Dolla's latest music video titled Question, which sparked widespread debate because it was deemed inappropriate and raised sensitivities among viewers, leading to it being taken down from the social media site YouTube.

Meanwhile, Latheefa said the entire attack on Sabronzo and her group was just cheap sensationalism and showed an unhealthy obsession with women's purity while ignoring the dangerous misogynistic attitudes (hatred of women) in society.

"Besides, how did the minister decide that the music video was too sexy? Did he watch it? What were his criteria? Maybe he should have 'lowered his gaze'," she said.

At the same time, she also said it would be better if Mohd Na'im and his ministry focused on other bigger problems instead of investigating Dolla's music video.

"For example, thousands of children are denied citizenship simply because their parents' marriage documents are not in order.
