THE Government has hailed the United Nations Security Council’s adoption of a new resolution on Gaza as a significant and constructive development toward ending the conflict and laying the groundwork for lasting peace.
In a statement issued by Wisma Putra, the Foreign Ministry said the resolution supports the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, unveiled on 8 October in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
“The decision of the UN Security Council will open the way for the establishment of a Peace Board and an International Stabilisation Force to facilitate reconstruction, economic recovery and demilitarisation efforts in Gaza,” the ministry said.
“Sustainable peace in Palestine and the wider region can only be achieved through an inclusive and comprehensive settlement.”
Malaysia also urged the Security Council to ensure the resolution is implemented without delay, stressing that its enforcement is essential to realising the rights of the Palestinian people, including statehood, sovereignty, territorial integrity and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.
The ministry reiterated that Malaysia will continue to support all initiatives grounded in international law and the principles of the UN Charter aimed at achieving an independent and sovereign State of Palestine, based on pre-1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. - November 18, 2025
