A 17-YEAR-old boy attacked his father after being reprimanded for not going to school in an incident at a house in Setapak, Kuala Lumpur on Monday.

Wangsa Maju District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail said police received a report at 6.42pm regarding the incident.

"The suspect, who is a Form Five student, injured the 47-year-old victim due to a misunderstanding between them.

"The victim suffered injuries to the back of his body and left arm due to cuts from a knife used by the suspect. The man has been receiving treatment at the Kuala Lumpur Hospital," he said.

Mohamad Lazim said the suspect was detained to assist in the investigation under Section 324 of the Penal Code for causing hurt and Section 506 of the same code for making criminal threats.

"A remand application against the suspect under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code was made yesterday and the remand was granted for three days starting November 18 (Tuesday) until tomorrow (November 20)," he said. - November 19, 2025
