THREE suspected criminals, including one with a history of 39 prior criminal and drug offences, were shot dead by police after an aggressive confrontation during an early morning operation at a palm plantation near Taman Tambun Perdana in Alor Gajah on Monday.
Melaka Police Chief Datuk Dzulkairi Mukhtar said the incident occurred at 4.50 a.m. when a 30-year-old corporal sustained severe injuries to his left arm after being attacked with a parang by one of the suspects.
“The operation was part of Op Casa Melaka, launched jointly by the Special Investigation Division (D9) of the Melaka Police Contingent Headquarters and the Criminal Investigation Division of the Alor Gajah District Police to combat armed robbery activities in the state,” Dzulkairi explained at a press conference at the Melaka IPK.
He added that the police team encountered the three men acting suspiciously in the plantation before identifying themselves as officers.
“The three suspects reacted aggressively, leading to a struggle. They wielded long parangs against our officers. In this life-threatening situation, police had no choice but to fire in self-defence.”
All three suspects were declared dead at the scene. Two were aged 24 and 29, while the third’s identity remains unknown as he carried no identification documents. Authorities seized three parangs, face masks, gloves, a black bag, and metal cutters at the location.
Investigations revealed that the 29-year-old main suspect had 39 prior criminal and drug records and was wanted by police, while another suspect had 12 prior records.
The group, identified as Geng DT (Durian Tunggal), is believed to be highly active in armed robberies targeting residences, factories, and vehicles across Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, and Selangor.
“Since 2024, this gang has been linked to 20 cases in Melaka, two in Negeri Sembilan, and one in Selangor, with estimated losses totaling RM1.35 million.
Their modus operandi involves using parangs and metal rods to commit crimes and disabling CCTV systems to avoid detection,” Dzulkairi said.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder. - November 24, 2025
