MACC to probe alleged bribe linked to former senior political secretary
Shamsul claims there had been attempts “to attack him personally and damage the image of the Madani government” - November 26, 2025

THE nation’s anti-graft body has launched an investigation into allegations that businessman Albert Tei paid bribes to Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, the former Senior Political Secretary to the Prime Minister.

Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki  said today  both Tei and Shamsul Iskandar would be summoned soon to provide statements.

He said: ““In addition, the MACC will also call all parties involved for the purpose of gathering the necessary evidence. Therefore, the public is advised not to make any speculation regarding this matter and to allow.”

The allegations followed a report from a local news portal in which former PKR deputy president Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli urged Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his former aide Shamsul Iskandar to sue the businessman.

The call came after claims that Shamsul Iskandar had received money from Tei in connection with a mining licence.

Shamsul resigned on Tuesday as the Prime Minister’s Senior Political Secretary, claiming there had been attempts “to attack him personally and damage the image of the Madani government.”

The former Hang Tuah Jaya MP was appointed to the post on 23 December 2022.
