THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission today said Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar has also been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation into allegations of corruption involving businessman Albert Tei.

Its chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki said the Prime Minister's former senior political secretary was arrested at 12.51pm today after he came to the MACC headquarter to give his statement.

MACC will apply for a remand order for both Shamsul and Tei tomorrow.

"Shamsul, Tei and Sofia Rini Buyong have been arrested to help in the probe. Sofia was arrested at 10.30pm last night at the MACC headquarters and been remanded for four days.

"Tei was supposed to come to the MACC headquarters but delayed it. He was arrested at his house at 10.15am today and is the most important person in this investigation," said Azam.

He said MACC had also applied Section 28A(9) of the Malaysian Criminal Procedure Code (CPC) on Tei which is an authorisation requirement related to the temporary denial of an arrested person's rights to communicate with a relative, friend or a lawyer.

"MACC will conduct this investigation professionally and in all fairness. I have also instructed our officers to ensure the investigation is wrapped un within a week and handed over to the Attorney-General for further action," he added. - November 28, 2025
