A SINGAPORE-registered motorcyclist is under investigation after allegedly throwing a stone at a car on the Malaysia–Singapore Second Link highway, causing the vehicle’s rear windshield to shatter in an incident that has since gone viral online.

The Iskandar Puteri District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner M Kumarasan, confirmed that the 30-year-old car owner lodged a police report on Monday regarding the incident.

“Based on the report, the incident occurred at approximately 8.20am on the Second Link highway near the Perling Toll Plaza, heading towards Taman Bukit Indah, Johor Bahru. The driver of the car claimed that he honked after the motorcyclist changed lanes abruptly,” Kumarasan said.

He added that the motorcyclist then reportedly pursued the vehicle before allegedly throwing a stone at the rear windshield, shattering it.

The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for mischief, which carries a penalty of one to five years’ imprisonment, a fine, or both if convicted.

Additionally, the matter is being probed under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous riding, which can result in up to five years’ imprisonment and fines ranging from RM5,000 to RM15,000.

Kumarasan urged any witnesses with information to contact the Iskandar Puteri District Police Control Centre at 07-5113622 or the 24-hour hotline at 07-5114486.

The incident was captured in a 24-second video uploaded to Facebook, showing the moment the rear windshield was smashed and the car driver attempting to pursue the motorcyclist, sparking public concern over road safety. - December 2, 2025
