POLICE have arrested a man to assist investigations into the discovery of a woman’s body found inside a bag and buried at a vacant house near Kampung Batu 4, Pedas, in Rembau on Thursday.

Negeri Sembilan deputy police chief Senior Assistant Commissioner Idzam Jaafar said the 41-year-old suspect was detained in Melaka on the same day the body was discovered.

“Following the discovery of a woman’s body behind an unoccupied house yesterday, we mobilised a team to track down the suspect,” he told Sinar Harian on Friday.

“Based on intelligence and investigations carried out, a man was arrested at a location in Melaka less than 12 hours after the body was found,” he said.

Idzam said police had applied for a remand order at the Tampin Magistrates’ Court on Friday morning, which granted a seven-day remand until 25 December.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, adding that police were still identifying several other individuals to assist with the investigation.

“A post-mortem examination is being conducted today at the Forensic Medicine Department of Rembau Hospital to determine the victim’s identity and cause of death,” he said.

“At this stage, we are awaiting the post-mortem report and confirmation from family members before carrying out further investigations into the suspect’s relationship with the victim. Any further developments will be updated from time to time,” he added.

Media reports on Thursday said police had confirmed that the body found outside a house in Rembau was that of a woman believed to be linked to a missing persons report filed in Ampang, Selangor. - December 19, 2025
