POLICE in Nilai have identified a suspect in connection with a vehicle explosion that occurred near an apartment complex in Desa Palma yesterday. Datuk Alzafny Ahmad, Chief of Police for Negeri Sembilan, confirmed that preliminary investigations indicate the incident was carried out by a single individual without the involvement of any group or organisation.

All explosive materials discovered inside the vehicle were safely detonated with assistance from the Bomb Disposal Unit in the early hours today.

Authorities are now actively searching for the suspect, a local man in his 60s who is believed to have fled the scene.

The individual also has a prior criminal record under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.

“We have identified a property believed to be the suspect’s residence, and a raid was conducted at that address. During the inspection, several additional explosive devices using the same method or system were found inside his home,” Datuk Alzafny told Buletin TV3.

He emphasised that the case is considered isolated, with no links to terrorism or extremist movements, and that the motive behind the incident remains under investigation.

“The public, particularly residents in Nilai, need not be alarmed or fear going about their daily activities, as the police have confirmed that the suspect acted alone. Intelligence and investigations indicate no other parties were involved,” he added.

Residents of Desa Palma were startled yesterday morning by a loud explosion originating from a vehicle.

Police found numerous nails scattered across the road, and several other vehicles sustained damage from debris.

Further inspections revealed three additional improvised explosive devices at a nearby residence, underscoring the seriousness of the incident while reinforcing that it was carried out independently by the suspect. - December 23, 2025
