PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has reaffirmed that the MADANI government remains fully committed to driving the well-being of the people of Sarawak through long-term strategic investments, inclusive economic growth and the creation of new employment opportunities.

In a statement shared on his Facebook page, Anwar said the federal government was also giving its full commitment to the implementation of the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63), alongside fair and equitable management of oil and gas resources, to ensure that economic benefits are channelled directly to the people.

“Every initiative is planned and implemented to build a more advanced, sustainable and prosperous Sarawak, for the benefit of today and for generations to come,” he said.

“Real transformation for the people of Sarawak is underway, and we are all part of this journey.”

Anwar said the MADANI government’s achievements in Sarawak this year include strategic development initiatives, quality investments and the creation of new jobs aimed at positioning the state as a key economic powerhouse within Malaysia.

He noted that high-impact investments and industrial development have expanded employment and skills opportunities for Sarawakians, particularly in emerging and growth sectors such as green energy, semiconductors, electrical and electronics manufacturing, methanol and hydrogen hubs, as well as the strengthening of logistics and aerospace industries along the Kuching–Bintulu–Miri corridor.

According to Anwar, improving facilities and living standards for the people remains a core priority of the federal government. He said housing programmes such as the People’s Housing Programme and Rumah Mesra Rakyat have been expanded, while the Step-Up Financing scheme has been introduced to help Sarawakian youths purchase their first homes.

He added that financial assistance programmes including Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah continue to ease cost-of-living pressures, particularly for families in rural and interior areas of the state.

Anwar also said efforts to strengthen Sarawak’s rights and autonomy under MA63 are being accelerated through ongoing negotiations between the federal and state governments.

These include the restructuring of powers in the education and health sectors, increased special allocations to Sarawak, higher overall federal funding for the state, and recognition of Sarawak as an equal partner within the Federation of Malaysia.

Overall, the prime minister said Sarawak is experiencing steady progress under the MADANI administration, encapsulated by the slogan “Prosperous Sarawak, Prosperous Malaysia”, reflecting the government’s vision of shared growth and national well-being. - December 26, 2025
