THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has summoned a former minister on suspicion of accepting bribes of about RM5 million and a luxury car involving a billboard project and land transfer in the capital.

According to sources, based on information received by MACC, the former Minister had allegedly received about RM5 million from a developer while the luxury Lamborghini car was from a billboard manufacturing company.

"The former Minister was present at the MACC Headquarters in Putrajaya today to have his statement recorded and investigations are underway to trace the source of payment for the luxury car.

"As for the land case, initial investigations found that the land that was previously gazetted for the construction of a surau had been transferred to a proxy company," said the source.

According to the source, a total of 16 witnesses consisting of government employees and company owners have had their statements recorded to assist in the investigation of both cases.

Meanwhile, MACC Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki when contacted confirmed that an investigation paper into the receipt of bribes involving the former Minister has been opened under Section 16 of the MACC Act 2009.

He said that at present, no asset seizure or account freezing has been carried out. – December 29, 2025
