THE Perlis chapter of Parti Islam SeMalaysia has warned its leaders and grassroots members against making individual remarks that diverge from the party’s official position as the political crisis in the state deepens.
Its commissioner, Ahmad Ali, issued the reminder in a brief statement shared on his social media platforms, stressing the need for discipline and unity within the party during the current turmoil.
“I remind all PAS leaders and members at all levels not to make personal statements that contradict the party’s stance regarding the crisis that is taking place,” he said.
“Place your trust (tsiqah) in PAS Central to find the best solution to this crisis,” he added.
The reminder follows reports that PAS had decided to terminate the membership of three Perlis state assemblymen from the party with immediate effect after they signed statutory declarations together with five Bersatu assemblymen, an action said to have undermined the leadership of the state government.
The three assemblymen are Saad Seman of Chuping, Fakhrul Anwar Ismail of Bintong and Mohd Ridzuan Hashim of Guar Sanji.
PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang said the decision was made during a special meeting of the party’s central working committee held at the PAS president’s office in Rusila, Marang, Terengganu, last Wednesday.
According to him, the meeting ruled, based on Clause 76 and Clause 15A(1)(b) of the PAS Constitution (2025 Amendment), that the membership of the three elected representatives was terminated with immediate effect.
In the wake of that decision, PAS also resolved on Tuesday that none of its Perlis assemblymen would take up positions in the new state executive council to be formed by the newly appointed Menteri Besar, Abu Bakar Hamzah.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan said all existing PAS state executive councillors would step down from their posts as a show of solidarity and in line with the resignation of former Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli. - December 31, 2025
