SEVEN Chinese women have been arrested in Johor Bharu by the state's Immigration Department for allegedly advertising sexual services through the WeChat and Telegram applications, charging between RM230 and RM400 per client.
Johor Immigration director Datuk Mohd Rusdi Mohd Darus said the suspects were detained during coordinated raids on several apartment units around Tanjung Puteri, carried out from 9pm on Wednesday.
He said the operation, codenamed Op Gegar, found that all seven women had misused their social visit passes to engage in immoral activities.
“The modus operandi used was to offer sexual services through social media applications.
“The fees charged to those seeking such immoral services ranged between RM230 and RM400. All payments were made in cash,” he said in a statement.
Mohd Rusdi added that all seven suspects, aged between 25 and 41, are undocumented migrants and were detained for various offences under the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963.
“At the same time, six Form 29 notices, which are summonses to witnesses, were issued during the inspection to assist investigations. All detainees have been placed at the Setia Tropika Immigration Depot for further investigation and action,” he said.
He stressed that the department remains committed to combating the presence of undocumented migrants and immigration-related offences in the state. - January 1, 2026
