BARISAN Nasional (BN) candidate Mohd Ismail Ayob has officially launched his election manifesto for the Lamag state seat by-election, outlining six key pillars aimed at improving living standards, expanding economic opportunities and strengthening basic infrastructure in the constituency.

At the heart of the manifesto is a proposal to develop the Lamag People’s Housing Project (PPR), which is intended to provide affordable homes for low- and middle-income groups, particularly the B40 and M50.

The plan also includes the construction of well-organised and secure new housing areas, with the broader goal of reducing poverty in Lamag by enabling more families to own their own homes.

Another major focus is the development of tourism, handicrafts, entrepreneurship and cultural activities.

Mohd Ismail proposed the creation of permanent spaces for the sale of handicraft products, as well as cultural stopover centres that would function as training hubs for both modern and traditional craft production.

The manifesto also calls for the establishment of a college or skills institute in Kinabatangan, specialising in high-potential fields such as automotive, mechanical and electrical engineering, modern agriculture, hospitality and tourism.

The initiative is aimed at providing local youth with access to education and employment, while strengthening collaboration with government agencies and industry players to secure job placements.

Youth and community development feature prominently in the fourth pillar, which seeks to enhance sports infrastructure through the construction of a sports complex or mini-complex.

According to the proposal, such facilities would create employment opportunities, stimulate the local economy, energise youth participation and support talent development from school level to international competition.

The manifesto further outlines plans to upgrade basic infrastructure across Lamag by ensuring stable, modern and safe electricity supply to homes, schools and business premises.

It also includes proposals to build community water tanks and repair damaged roads, extending improvements to every village in the constituency.

The manifesto was launched during the Program Malam Galau held at Dataran Kinabatangan earlier today.

Speaking to reporters, Mohd Ismail said the manifesto was drawn directly from issues that the local community has faced for many years.

“This manifesto is comprehensive in nature, with an emphasis on addressing the cost of living as well as the economic well-being of the local community,” he said.

In the Lamag by-election, Mohd Ismail is set to face Parti Warisan candidate Mazliwati Abdul Malek. - January 18, 2026
