MIC Deputy President Datuk Seri M. Saravanan has welcomed the People’s Progressive Party (PPP) back into Barisan Nasional (BN).
He congratulated PPP on their official readmission and also advocated for the full admission of 'BN-friendly' parties - Makkal Sakthi, IPF, KIMMA, MIUP and others into the coalition.
He emphasised that integrating these loyal partners is a strategic necessity to consolidate BN’s diverse strengths and foster long-term political stability.
"This reunion reinforces our shared values of unity and stability and ensures we build a formidable front that truly serves the people and improves the nation’s political landscape.'"
The Member of Parliament for Tapah noted that these parties have been 'waiting in the wings' for a long time, consistently contributing to BN’s grassroots machinery and electoral successes without the formal recognition of full component status.
He emphasised that their formal admission is not just a matter of recognition of their long-term commitment, but also a show of gratitude for all their sacrifices to date.
Earlier today BN chairman Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the formalities of the recognition would be held at the BN Supreme Council meeting in Kota Kinabalu on January 21.
"Here I am holding a letter from the Registration of Societies (ROS) dated Nov 25, 2025, which states that PPP is a party in Barisan Nasional," he said when opening the 72nd PPP General Assembly at the Merdeka Hall, World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL).
He said the recognition of PPP was important to ensure stability and strengthen unity among the BN component parties. – January 18, 2026
