HIS Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, has expressed profound disappointment over cases of corruption reaching the upper echelons of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

His remarks came during the Opening Ceremony of the Fifth Session of the Fifteenth Parliament held in the capital today.

“I am deeply disappointed that corruption has occurred within the Malaysian Armed Forces at the highest levels. Perhaps in future, I will have to appoint a Sergeant alone as PAT (Armed Forces). This is merely a fragment of a mountain, or the tip of the iceberg,” the King stated.

He emphasised that corrupt practices must be combated decisively and without exception. “I have said before that I came to Kuala Lumpur to hunt down corruption, and it seems that I have succeeded.

“I am certain there are many more out there, whether in the Customs Department, immigration, police, and elsewhere. Even those within this House will continue to be pursued until they are found,” His Majesty added.

The King’s remarks underscore a broader commitment to rooting out corruption across Malaysia’s public institutions, signalling that no sector, including the nation’s security apparatus, will be exempt from scrutiny. - January 19, 2026
