DATUK Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the government will introduce a new approach to assessing learning in primary and secondary schools through the Malaysian Learning Matrix, starting with the Year Four Learning Measurement in 2026 and the Form Three Learning Measurement in 2027.

The Prime Minister said the Year Four Learning Measurement will be implemented starting in 2026, involving four core subjects, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics and Science.

The Form Three Learning Measurement will be introduced starting in 2027, involving five main subjects, namely Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science and History.

Anwar said both measurements will be administered centrally by the Examinations Board as part of efforts to strengthen the country's education assessment system that is more comprehensive and focuses on student learning mastery.

"This approach aims to ensure that students' mastery levels can be identified earlier, thus allowing for more targeted interventions to improve the quality of education," he said at the launch of the National Education Plan (RPN) 2026-2035, today. - January 20, 2026
