SIX individuals, including insured persons and suspected ringleaders, have been arrested in connection with the alleged falsification of documents to claim disability pension benefits under the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969.

Datuk Seri Dr Mohammed Azman Aziz Mohammed, Chief Executive Officer of the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), confirmed that the arrests were the result of intelligence and investigations conducted under Operation Stroke, in collaboration with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) since 3 September last year.

“Initial investigations indicate that the benefits disbursed through these fraudulent claims totalled approximately RM220,000. However, swift action by SOCSO prevented potential losses from escalating further,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Mohammed Azman added that if the document forgery syndicate had gone unchecked, the financial impact could have soared to an estimated RM3.78 million.

“SOCSO will not compromise with any party attempting to undermine the integrity of the nation’s social security system for personal gain,” he emphasised.

He urged contributors to liaise directly with SOCSO when making claims, noting that all applications are processed free of charge and warning against being misled by agents or syndicates.

“SOCSO continually monitors to ensure no manipulation or fraud occurs and calls on contributors to act with honesty and integrity when submitting claims. Any attempt to submit falsified documents will not only result in claim rejection, but legal action may also be taken against those involved,” he said.

Dr Mohammed Azman further stressed that such syndicate activity not only results in direct financial losses but also poses a serious threat to the long-term sustainability of the nation’s social security funds.

“Funds lost through fraudulent claims could jeopardise SOCSO’s ability to provide assistance to contributors who genuinely need protection,” he added. - January 22, 2026
