SABAH Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun has called on the leaders of Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to view their recent electoral victory not as an occasion for celebration, but as a serious mandate that requires responsible governance, integrity, and accountability.
Speaking at the Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS) thanksgiving dinner in Karanaan, Kundasang, on Saturday, Masidi highlighted that the victory marked not just a political triumph but a duty to the people of Sabah.
"Political stability in Sabah forms the foundation of everything — from fostering economic growth to ensuring the public’s well-being and building investor confidence," Masidi stated, emphasising the vital role of stable governance.
He added that the mandate entrusted to GRS by the people demanded disciplined leadership, where every decision must be guided by the principles of efficiency, responsibility, and most importantly, the welfare of the people.
Masidi reminded leaders within both GRS and PGRS that their positions should not be seen as personal accolades but rather as responsibilities entrusted to them for the greater good of the state.
"Positions are not rewards, but trusts that must be carried out with dedication and sincerity, always prioritising the interests of the rakyat and the state’s future progress," he asserted.
Reaffirming his commitment to the people, Masidi pledged to ensure that the concerns of Sabahans are heard and addressed.
He also reiterated the importance of improving the state's infrastructure, enhancing educational standards, upgrading healthcare facilities, and implementing programs to uplift the living standards of all Sabahan citizens.
