AN Indonesian domestic helper suspected of being exploited by her employer was rescued following an operation carried out by the Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department at a house in Seremban on Tuesday afternoon.
Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department director Kennith Tan Ai Kiang said the operation was conducted between 1pm and 3pm at a residential property in Taman Kemayan, Seremban 2, involving 11 enforcement officers.
“Operations were carried out with a force of 11 Immigration officers. Inspections found a 51-year-old foreign woman believed to be a victim of exploitation,” he said in a statement today.
According to Kennith, the woman was discovered hiding inside a wardrobe in the master bedroom of the house.
He added that the Indonesian national did not possess any valid travel documents or pass at the time of the inspection.
“As a result, the victim was rescued and taken to the Senawang Immigration Office for protection and to assist with further investigations under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007 (ATIPSOM).
“A local woman employer was detained to assist investigations under Section 12 of ATIPSOM 2007, while two other individuals were issued summons notices to appear as witnesses and provide statements at the Seremban Immigration Enforcement Division office,” he said.
Kennith stressed that the department remains committed to combating all forms of exploitation and abuse, including those involving foreign nationals, and will take firm action in accordance with the law. - February 4, 2026
