HOME Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail will brief the Cabinet tomorrow regarding the issue surrounding the allegedly illegal construction of houses of worship, and the encroachment on a temple in Rawang, Selangor.
He said the move was aimed at providing a true picture of the issues, as well as the chronology of events and the characters involved, to enable the government to seek the best solution to ease any tension that has arisen.
"I have asked the Inspector-General of Police and the Director of the Special Branch to prepare a complete report. We want to ensure that the action taken is based on facts and legislation, not emotions or manipulation by certain parties," he told a press conference after the Home Ministry's (KDN) Monthly Assembly.
Regarding the recent incident of individuals taking action to demolish houses of worship, Saifuddin Nasution stressed that actions that go against the law are very dangerous and can affect public order.
He said that issues related to land status, ownership or urban planning must be resolved through legal channels involving the state government and local authorities (PBT).
"No party will win in this issue if we act according to emotions. We will remain a multi-racial country, and the guarantee of religious freedom as enshrined in the Federal Constitution will continue to be defended by the government," he said.
Saifuddin said he has given full trust to the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) to use all its capabilities, including provisions under Section 105 of the Criminal Procedure Code, as a preventive measure to curb any actions that affect harmony.
"Freedom of speech is not the freedom to incite or incite racial sentiments. The police will act professionally to preserve the peace of the country, which is now on the right track," he said.
Yesterday, police arrested four men to assist in investigations into the encroachment of a temple in Rawang.
Selangor Police Chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said the arrests were made following a complaint received from a man regarding the demolition of a temple built illegally in the area. – February 12, 2026
