THREE non-governmental organisations (NGOs) are urging the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to investigate a former minister regarding a government agreement with a foreign company involving funds amounting to almost RM1.1 billion.
Pertubuhan Pribumi Perkasa Malaysia (Perkasa) president Syed Hasan Syed Ali said an official report was made together with Pertubuhan Angkatan Nadi Jiwa Islam Malaysia (Panji Malaysia) and the Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) at the MACC headquarters today for a detailed investigation to be carried out.
According to him, the report was made following complaints and questions received from the public regarding a government agreement with a foreign company.
"I just want to say that we have received many complaints and also questions from the public about an agreement between the Malaysian Government and a foreign company involving almost RM1.1 billion that was done early last year," he told reporters after filing a report at the MACC headquarters.
He, however, refused to reveal further details because he was bound by a confidentiality agreement.
Syed Hasan explained that the agreement was allegedly signed around March last year and now raises questions regarding the status of its implementation.
"The question now is not knowing where the agreement or the project is headed.
"It involves a former minister. That's all I can say.
"I hope the MACC will investigate whether there is misconduct, abuse of power and also that it involves a former officer who served with this company," he said.
According to him, among the main questions raised were whether the payment was made in full or in part and the true purpose of the payment.
He also asked the MACC to examine the flow of government money to ensure that there was no misappropriation.
He also claimed that the ministry involved was an important one that had great importance to the country and the economy.
In this regard, he hoped that the investigation could be carried out transparently to ensure that public funds were managed with full integrity and to preserve the people's trust in government institutions. – February 12, 2026
