A 71-YEAR-OLD man and an accomplice have been remanded for seven days following the gruesome discovery of a woman’s dismembered remains at a waste disposal site in Taman Indah Permai, Sepanggar.
The elderly suspect, identified as the victim’s fiancé, was reportedly motivated by a dispute over wedding expenses and the termination of their engagement.
Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun confirmed that the remand order, which commenced on Friday, was secured to facilitate a comprehensive investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

The investigation reveals a tragic sequence of events where the 44-year-old victim allegedly attempted to escape her assailant before being dragged back.
Police suggest the motive centered on a financial disagreement, specifically regarding the return of engagement funds.
Reports indicate the suspect was disgruntled over the victim’s alleged use of his money despite her intentions to marry another individual.
The victim’s son has been vocal on social media regarding the tragedy, sharing the harrowing process of identifying his mother’s remains. I am certain that was my mother’s hand, he shared in a poignant account of the identification process.
He further revealed that while his mother has been laid to rest, the burial was conducted without her full remains.

The case first came to light on Thursday morning when sanitation workers discovered several body parts while performing cleaning duties at approximately 7 am. Subsequent investigations led to the swift arrest of the two suspects.
