AUTHORITIES in Kota Kinabalu have arrested two more individuals in connection with the horrific discovery of a woman's dismembered remains, bringing the total number of detainees to four.
The latest arrests involve two local women, aged 29 and 21, who were apprehended in Sepanggar and Inanam on Sunday.
Acting Kota Kinabalu District Police Chief Superintendent Syed Lot Syed Ab Rahman confirmed that both women are the daughters of the primary suspect in the case.
They were detained to assist investigations regarding their potential roles and knowledge of the incident, he stated in a press release issued tonight.
The investigation began following the arrest of the first suspect, a 71-year-old local man, on February 12 at the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital Emergency Department.
Later that same night, a 19-year-old local male was also detained in Sepanggar to assist with the ongoing inquiries.
Through rapid action by the Kota Kinabalu Criminal Investigation Division, several items believed to be linked to the crime have been recovered. Among the seized items are mobile phones, clothing, a pair of gloves, a 27-inch machete, and a Nissan X-Trail vehicle, Syed Lot noted.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. The police have provided assurances that the investigation will be conducted in a comprehensive, transparent, and professional manner, while advising the public against making speculations that could jeopardize the legal process.
The victim, a woman in her 40s, was found after her body parts were discarded at various locations near trash collection points in Taman Indah Permai.
Initial discoveries of hands and feet were made at 6:30 am, followed by the recovery of the victim's head and torso at 11:40 am in the same vicinity. - February 16, 2026
