POLICE successfully busted two drug trafficking syndicates for the local and international markets in several separate raids around Selangor and Kuala Lumpur, with a total seizure value estimated at RM21 million.
Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the success was the result of continuous intelligence and integrated enforcement carried out by police in an effort to combat drug trafficking activities.
"These two operations prove NCID's continued commitment to busting syndicates active in the Selangor and Kuala Lumpur areas," he told a press conference at the Selangor Contingent Headquarters (IPK) today.
He said the first case involving Op Bena, which was carried out on February 12, involved four separate raids and the arrest of five local suspects aged between 27 and 37.
In the raid, police seized various types of drugs including methamphetamine, heroin, MDMA, marijuana, ecstasy and erimin 5, with a total value estimated at RM8.4 million.
“The first and second suspects acted as ‘runners’, the third suspect as a member of the syndicate, while the fourth suspect was identified as the syndicate leader. The fifth suspect was the companion of the syndicate leader,” he said.
He added that the syndicate was believed to have been active since July 2025 and used a modus operandi of hiding drugs in vehicles that were abandoned at certain locations before being picked up by buyers.
“Only one suspect was found to be positive for drugs in the initial screening test, while the total amount of drugs seized could harm approximately 793,000 users,” he said.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which provides for the death penalty or life imprisonment if convicted.
In the second case, the Sabak Bernam District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division successfully busted a syndicate involving foreigners operating in Selangor waters and the Straits of Melaka through Ops Tapis.
Three suspects aged between 26 and 53 were arrested in two raids in Sekinchan, including the seizure of more than 170 kilograms of various types of drugs and a pistol with ammunition.
“The proceeds of the seizure in this second case are estimated to be worth RM12.6 million and are capable of catering to approximately 830,000 users,” he said.
He added that the syndicate is believed to have been active since early 2021 and uses boats as transport to send drugs to neighbouring countries.
All suspects are being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 8 of the Firearms (Heavier Penalties) Act 1971, in addition to property forfeiture actions being taken.
“This entire success is the result of continuous intelligence and public cooperation. PDRM will not compromise with any party involved in drug trafficking,” he stressed.
He also reminded that possessing, distributing or protecting drug activities is a serious offence that threatens the security, well-being of the people and the dignity of the country. – February 19, 2026
