THE proposed Artificial Intelligence Governance Bill and Malaysia’s official position on a recent United States Supreme Court ruling invalidating tariffs introduced by former president Donald Trump are set to take centre stage in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday.
According to the Order Paper published on Parliament’s official website, Rodziah Ismail (PH–Ampang) will, during Minister’s Question Time, ask the Prime Minister to explain how the forthcoming legislation addresses copyright and intellectual property concerns arising from AI systems trained on copyrighted materials, including text, images, audio and video.
She is also seeking clarification on safeguards to protect creators and rights holders against the unauthorised use of their works.
Separately, Datuk Rosol Wahid (PN–Hulu Terengganu) will request the Prime Minister to state the Malaysian government’s official stance on the decision by the US Supreme Court declaring tariffs introduced by Trump to be unlawful.
He is also expected to seek details on the implications of the ruling for Malaysia–US trade relations.
During the oral question session, Lee Chean Chung (PH–Petaling Jaya) will ask the Minister for Energy Transition and Water Transformation to disclose the number of electricity theft cases detected through the Distribution Transformer Meter system and smart meters to date, as well as the estimated financial losses suffered by Tenaga Nasional Berhad.
Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man (PN–Kubang Kerian) will question the same minister on why the non-revenue water target of 31 per cent last year was not achieved despite an allocation of RM2.525 billion under Budget 2025.
He will also seek clarification on the immediate and concrete corrective measures being implemented to meet the revised target of 25 per cent by 2030.
Following Question Time, the House will proceed with the second reading of the Environmental Quality (Amendment) Bill 2026, to be tabled by the Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, and the Supplementary Supply Bill (2025) 2026, to be presented by the Finance Minister.
In addition, the Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) is scheduled to table the Constitution (Amendment) (No. 1) Bill 2026 and the Constitution (Amendment) (No. 2) Bill 2026 for their second readings. - February 24, 2026
