PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today marked his 46th wedding anniversary with a public tribute to his wife, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
In a Facebook post, Anwar conveyed his appreciation for the love, sacrifices and unwavering prayers of his wife throughout their marriage, describing her as the love of his life who has remained steadfast beside him through every trial and triumph.
“May Allah SWT continue to protect and bless our journey in life,” he said.
Anwar and Dr Wan Azizah were married in 1980 and have six children.
In a separate development, the Prime Minister expressed admiration for 18-year-old Hakim Danish Ramli, who is set to begin his full campaign in the Moto3 class at the Motorcycle World Championship during the Thailand Grand Prix at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram.
Youth and Sports Minister Dr Mohammed Taufiq Johari recounted a recent meeting between the Prime Minister and the young rider at a breaking-of-fast event at the Federal Territory Mosque, where Anwar offered words of encouragement.
“The Prime Minister was surprised when Hakim Danish said he had started racing as early as seven years old. That is a source of pride, and what is important to emphasise is that we need to expand grassroots sports programmes to produce more Hakim Danish.
“He is an individual who comes from Terengganu and does not have a family background in MotoGP or similar fields. Yet we have managed to produce a grassroots athlete like this. For that reason, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will continue to work closely with all parties to ensure we can develop more grassroots athletes,” he said.
Dr Mohammed Taufiq was speaking to reporters after the launch of the My Athlete Center and the signing of a memorandum of understanding with MACE Partners at the National Sports Council.
Expressing confidence in Hakim Danish’s prospects at the Chang International Circuit, he said the FRINSA-MT Helmets-MSI rider was capable of delivering a strong performance.
“I hope Hakim Danish and his team continue to progress and, in Thailand, we wish them all the best. Maintain the fighting spirit and make Malaysia proud and, God willing, I am confident he can go even further for our country,” he said. - February 26, 2026
