A 50-YEAR-OLD local man was found dead with stab wounds to his chest in a shoplot unit in Petaling Jaya yesterday afternoon, police confirmed.

Petaling Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Shamsudin Mamat, said the victim was discovered unconscious and covered in blood by another man.

The incident was reported to police at 2.20 pm.

“Preliminary investigations indicate the victim likely died from stab injuries to the chest. A post-mortem examination is scheduled today to determine the exact cause of death,” he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which covers murder.

Shamsudin urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward at the nearest police station or contact the Petaling Jaya District Police Operations Room at 03-79662222 to assist in the investigation.

In a separate case, Wangsa Maju District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Lazim Ismail, reported that a 66-year-old woman lost over RM2 million after falling victim to a fraudulent investment scheme.

The victim alleged she was deceived by a non-existent stock investment promoted by an agent in 2023.

“The victim was promised a dividend return of 10 per cent every three months. Misled by this promise, she made several staged payments amounting to millions of ringgit, yet received no returns as promised,” Bernama reported Mohamad Lazim saying.

He confirmed that the total loss amounted to RM2,262,750, and the case is being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating. - March 14, 2026
