FORMER UMNO Vice President, Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein, has also submitted an appeal letter to rejoin the party.

UMNO Secretary-General, Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, said that the Sembrong MP was among the UMNO leaders who had submitted an appeal, besides former UMNO Youth Chief, Khairy Jamaluddin.

According to him, several appeals to return to strengthen Rumah Bangsa were received from UMNO leaders who had been suspended or sacked.

"This is quite heartwarming and encouraging news in the last nights of Ramadan.

"Apart from Khairy Jamaluddin, many other leaders who have served have submitted appeals to return to strengthen the UMNO struggle for the nation, including Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Tun Hussein," he said in a Facebook post.

Earlier, UMNO President, Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, shared that he received a visit from Khairy to submit an appeal letter to return to UMNO.

Previously, Hishammuddin expressed his willingness to return to fight with UMNO if the party lifted his suspension.

He was moved and grateful to Zahid, who opened the door wide to any former member who had been sacked or had his membership suspended to rejoin UMNO.

Hishammuddin was suspended for six years beginning January 27, 2023, or two Umno supreme council terms. – March 16, 2026
