INVESTIGATIONS into the shareholdings of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Chief Commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki, and the allegations of a 'corporate mafia' within the commission will be made public once fully completed.

Unity Government spokesman, Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, said the government needs to wait for a response from the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Shamsul Azri Abu Bakar, in addition to ensuring that all procedures are followed before any disclosure is made.

“We need to ensure that the investigation is fully completed before any further action is taken regarding the investigation into Azam’s shareholding can be disclosed.

"The commitment from the Cabinet, specifically from the Prime Minister, is that once both aspects of the investigation are completed, it will indeed be announced. That is the commitment from the Prime Minister,” he said in a weekly press conference after the Cabinet meeting today.

Yesterday, the government denied allegations by international media that Anwar had asked the special committee to delay the disclosure of the results of the investigation into Azam’s shareholding.

Shamsul Azri also announced that the Attorney General’s Chambers would take further action against the media agency concerned following the allegations.

Fahmi, who is also the Minister of Communications, said that Shamsul Azri had previously stressed that there were several important processes that needed to be followed before any official announcement was made.

According to him, the government has completely entrusted Shamsul Azri to ensure that all relevant procedures are completed before any disclosure is made to the people. – April 1, 2026
